Re: [ga-abuse] Jeff Williams

Interesting argument, Bruce.

Each mailing list could have a separate moderator but the present tendency
seems to be for people to subscribe to multiple lists. They will therefore
see Jeff going through a whole charade on one list but when they look at
another list, he will still be there.

That will turn the whole thing into a bit of a joke. And Jeff plays those
games very well !!

One way of looking at it is to say that the six new lists are sub-lists. A
suspension from the main list, as in this case, should automatically carry
over to the lesser lists.

Another way of looking at it is that the rule-breaker is a single person
(not six) and has a conscience and free will to do what they like. If they
know that an infringement on any list can get them banned from all lists,
they will be much more careful, imo.

You could say that all we are doing in splitting the single list into six.
Before they would get banned from all at once because there was only one
list. Now they get six chances to break the rules. As well, it will be
administratively difficult to work out who is banned from which list when
there are seven lists altogether (including [ga]) !!!

And it will get harder for repeat offences. A second offence on one list; a
third offence on another etc. I really don't want to get into such a
scenario. Do you?

We will spend all of our time just monitoring the lists. Then there's the
appeals !!

We can't cope at the moment and there's only one list to consider.

Regards
Patrick
