Danny, as Chair, has already made that undertaking. When I was acting Chair
I was happy to follow that lead. However, Eric made a grovelling apology
and promised to turn over a new leaf.
Given that he was guilty of the offence in the first place, the idea is
really to control unacceptable behaviour not to punish past wrongs.
So I chose to exercise clemency whilst saying that I supported the original
decision. Nevertheless, Harald found my decision unacceptable and resigned.
It seems that my approach worked. Eric is much better behaved now. If he
plays up again he can expect no mercy. He knows that quite well.
How do you feel about Eric's case?
Our biggest problem is (a) not acting quickly and (b) not being firm.
Best regards
Patrick Corliss
