| Dear Elizabeth
|
| I note that all of the mailing lists have a footer except for [ga-abuse].
| This is generally in the following format:
| --
| This message was passed to you via the ga@dnso.org list.
| Send mail to majordomo@dnso.org to unsubscribe
| ("unsubscribe ga" in the body of the message).
| Archives at http://www.dnso.org/archives.html
|
| I know that [ga-abuse] is slightly different but would appreciate some form
| of footer being appended. This would allow list members to differentiate
| between private and onlist copies.
==> Dear Patrick,
The reason for NOT adding the footer was to DISTINGUISH
this small specific purpose related list from others.
I imagine also that the List Monitors have no need to be
reminded where GA archives are, neither how unsubscribe
from a list - which is the sole purpose of GA lists footer
(I was getting a number of questions about it).
I have no particular opinion on ga-abuse footer, but I know that
technical people do not like to have a lot of same text added
automatically.
|
| Perhaps you could also clarify whether the [ga-abuse] archives are available
| for viewing by list members?
==> When you have doubts, the best thing is to make experience.
Did you try to get to
http://dnso.dnso.org/clubpublic/ga-abuse/Arc01/
and succeeded without a user-password ?
If yes, please indicate me the date-hour.
The access to the ga-buse archives is password-protected,
and the password was provided (am I correct ?) to List Monitors.
We may change it from time to time.
==> I add another subject for all List Monitors and consideration:
about non cross-posting of ga-abuse with others lists.
I would not like to see the slitest accusation of Secretariat
about filtering and censorship.
The purpose of ga-abuse is to complain. Such complain MUST
be allowed to any member of the DNSO (it is - the posting to
ga-abuse is allowed to any subscriber to any DNSO list).
Usually complains arrive only to ga-abuse - as Harald mention,
there was almost no cross-posting during last 3 months
(forward from a list is not cross-posting in the technical
meaning).
Now, if the Lists Monitors consider that the ga-abuse should
be non cross-posted (technical meaning of non cross-posting)
with other GA lists, I would be grateful you decide it formaly
and announce this formal decision to the DNSO.
Then the Secretariat will set up filters.
Regards,
Elisabeth Porteneuve

| I have copied this request to the GA Chair to allow for the possibility that
| he may wish to veto my (fairly simple) proposal.
