[comments-whois] Privacy concerns
I support the recommendation earlier expressed by Michael Palage to dissolve
the WHOIS Task Force. The current Task Force has failed to properly and
fully address community concerns regarding privacy and as such cannot be
entrusted to continue this necessary work. There are a large number of
privacy organizations worldwide that should have been contacted by this Task
Force so that the ICANN Board could benefit from their expert counsel -- the
failure of this Task Force to proactively engage in such outreach to this
community is sufficient proof that the DNSO policy-recommending process has
been captured by special interests with an agenda to promote data accuracy at
the expense of consumer privacy. A newly constituted panel (forced to abide
by the GNSO policy development process) would at least ensure a more balanced
approach to the issue.
