[ga-abuse] Resigned, but not resigning yet.
Dear GA-abuse co-sufferers,
unless the abuse process is significantly improved
after the Montevideo meeting, I'm no longer willing
to spend my time on it.
For quite a while, the list monitors team has been
reduced to Kristy and me; Kristy has already been
working hard to squeeze in the list monitoring in
her weekly schedule and will now be unavailable for
monitoring until November.
Two people have answered the call for list monitor
volunteers two months ago, neither has been appointed.
Danny wanted the GA list monitor decision not to interfer
with the ICANN Director election -- however slim this
connection was, the GA involvement in it is over.
I'm not sure why the Kent Crispin and Russ Smith
suspensions have not been technically implemented
(although I suppose that there is a good reason behind
it), but it adds to the delays already accumulated
in the processing of the complaints about very offensive
language by Russ Smith. William X. Walsh reminds us
in his dry tone that the outward appearance of the
list monitoring is that of total inefficience.
We /desperately/ need (a monitor or) a team of monitors
which is able to process complaints very quickly (optimally
within 48 hours), using a uniform standard and whose
decisions can be implemented quickly. I'm not willing
to take responsibility for an inefficient process which
is intransparent for the GA members and has little if
any influence on the posting behavior.
I'd be glad for any suggestions for improvement and hope
for reinforcement after the Montevideo meeting.
Best regards,
/// Alexander
