Re: [ga-abuse] Unsuspension of Eric Dierker - reason to resign

Hi Harald

Given Eric's grovelling apology, I really had no choice. Failure to accept
would have been seen as a petty, even tyrannical, move on the Chair's part.
This way we are seen as reasonable and fair-minded. At least now, any
future breaches by Eric will gain him less sympathy from the crowd.

As well, as Acting Chair, the argument would have carried on until Danny
returned. Then the pressure would have been brought to bear on him also.
It would have been a mess.

You will remember that I was extremely active in promoting a more vigorous
enforcement of the list rules and protocols. In fact, I have personally
submittted numerous complaints against Eric Dierker (certainly more than
anyone else). All have been rejected or overturned.

I think we are not succeeding in our efforts for many reasons. Eric's petty
rhetoric is truly a very minor part of the problem. So I am sorry that your
protest is directed as me personally. I see my action as politically
necessary in the circumstances of Eric's apology.

Anyway, on behalf of the Chair and the other List Monitors, I thank you for
your efforts in helping us through the transition period. Your expert
guidance during this time was much appreciated. I trust that you will enjoy
normal participation as a list member.

As with Bruce James, I am advising the DNSO Secretariat that you have
resigned so that she may process your resignation as a request to
unsubscribe from [ga-abusae].

Very many thanks.

Sincerely
Patrick Corliss
Acting Chair
