[ga-abuse] Re: : [ADMIN] Suspension of William Walsh for Personal Attack,Insult and Slander.
Hi Bruce
First, let me say that we all have different feelings and perspectives -
you, me, Danny and even William Walsh. As well we sometimes have problems
trying to communicate those feelings. I don't mean that to sound
patronising - just stating a fact.
Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to explain. As you know I have hundreds
of emails relating to ga-abuse. I consider most of it a chore which, quite
frankly, I'd rather not do. I am not at all personally upset by William X.
Walsh. I just find his constant attacks tiresome and distracting from what
I see as our main goal.
However, I appreciate your support and understand that you were trying to
help by suspending William even though you might not have been emtirely
convinced. I am the person who suggested a panel of three persons for
exactly that reason. To make sure our decisions are thoughtful & balanced.
I think my judgment is generally quite good. I am 53 years old, educated
and mature. I am also conscientious and hard-working. Despite all the
criticism, I am not out to misuse my position or destroy ICANN or anything
of the sort. I am also pretty experienced with the list and the people on
it.
Of course, we all make mistakes and I've made a few. Danny made one when he
replied to your personal email on the [ga-abuse] list. In fact, Danny wrote
similar sentiments to me privately and has incorporate a couple of points I
made in my private reply to him. Since he has raised the same issues, I
will share my reply. With my reply about people cross-posting, it explains
pretty well why I think Danny is underestimating the damage likely to be
caused by tolerating such behaviour.
Before pasting that reply I'd just add that when Willliam Walsh attacks me
he creates an environment which other people copy. None of this is
constructive. I made the complaint but we do need for all of the list
monitors to make their own decisions. I will respect yours whatever it is.
My earlier reply to Danny was as follows:
Agreed. But the list rules, such as they are, prohibit "personal attacks,
insults and slander". They don't say "except for the Chair and Co-Chair".
My main concern is to achieve constructive results. To do this we need to
show that we are sensible, mature minded people not petty, vindictive
children. I am also concerned at the limited amount of time before
Stockholm I'm really doing a lot of work, here.
Comments from a senior and well-respected list member about WXW:

I therefore undertook to submit a complaint each time he broke the rules.
You'll remember that I posted onlist that I would not participate [in my own
cases]. The other panel members can do that. If WXW gets suspended he can
appeal to you.
Should you reinstate him, I'll just keep logging any abuse. It's a shame
that nobody will be getting any work done during this time.
WXW is very dangerous. He and Bradley Thornton killed the best chance we
had of an individual domain name owners constituency. Now we are trying
again a year or two later. Ask Joop - he's a very disappointed man.
Best regards
Patrick
